SKin Off Our Bones Is Now Closed.

June 20th, 2008

I suck at updating. I’ve know that ever since I even considered opening this place. This is why Skin Off Our Bones will soon be closed, BUT I will be working a new, more community driven MCR project. I’m currently sorting out the nerdy stuff like hosting, deciding a domain and deciding the best way to do this, but I have given myself the target of getting the beta version up by September 5th. Im basically trying to make a sort of MySpace for MCR fans. I’m also looking for some bossy admin types who wouldn’t mind dealing the usual moderating stuff that comes with a community based site. Email me (lauren@thinkyouneedtosmile.net) if interested. SOOB will be dead but kinda open until the new project opens.
All content is now not needed, so the first person to email me requesting it may have it their site. That includes all graphics, except for avatars. I’ve decided to open an Icon Journal were they can be found.
The forums and gallery are being deleted, and I recommend and for photos. The TBPedia is still alive and kicking, and I’m hoping to turn that into a whole separate project.
Thank you guys for an awesome two(very nearly three) years. In those three years a lot of the fan sites I loved have died and new even better ones have popped up. I just guess it’s time for that to happen with SOOB.
Don’t fail to contact me if you ever want to. Affiliates feel free to delete us.

P.S. If you sign up to the web site below, not only will you have the chance to win iPods, domains and more on completely free, safe and legal web site, but you’d be helping me get domain name, meaning I won’t have to use the little money I have to buy one, and won’t have to have horrible adds on the new site.

Leathermouth Tour?

June 9th, 2008

Frank posted a message on the S//C forums. You’ll have to go here to read it all, but below’s an extract concerning Leathermouth:

- Leathermouth will be featured in an upcoming issue of Alternative Press due to hit stores the first week of August. And don’t be surprised if you hear about an upcoming tour in the very near future! (I’m serious.)

- Reggie and the Full Effect will be releasing a new record on June 17th called “Last Stop: Crappy Town”, (again, this record is really fucking good) pre-orders for this record are available on their myspace. www.myspace.com/reggieandthefulleffect (p.s. With new records comes touring, and touring with friends is always fun. So in the very near future, when shows are announced, buy tix to go see Reggie play live and get there early to heckle Leathermouth.)

Just to clear a few things up

June 5th, 2008

This part of the post is completely non-mcr related. Feel free to skip to the bottom if you don’t want to hear my ramblings. There’s been a serge in emails I’m getting alately, so I just want to make this post to clear one or two things up.
#1 - I have nothing to do with the protest that went on to the daily mail. Yeah, I’m British, but not all British people know one another. The UK is small, but not that small :D I will not be covering anything to do with the protest because I didn’t support it. If you’re looking for news about that I suggest the LiveJournal Community or another awesome MCR fan site. My current favourite is Mikey Way Online, always up to date and a very nice owner.
#2 - I don’t do design work for free. If you’re willing to pay, contact me. My prices are very low since the only things I really need money for is clubs that cost 50 pence to get into and sherbet. We’ll talk it out.
#3 - Yes, I’m interested in MCR related projects, but no amount of begging will make me advertise you. If I like it I will, though most of the time if you ask nicely I’ll give you a mention in the updates.
Thank you :) Now onto what you come here for. My Chemical Goodness.

MCR UPDATES BEGIN HERE
Sequential Art has a rather awesome article/interview thing about The Umbrella Academy. I got that news from the ever wonderful MWO. Wow, I’m whoring them out today.

It doesn’t look like the Leathermouth CD will be released until October. Such a shame, I’ve been saving up for a tour and can guarantee I’ll have no money then.

The Lovecats

June 2nd, 2008

From punknews.com:

Pete ‘The Pete’ Steinkop and Michael McDermot of Bouncing Souls, DJ Values of Let It Burn, Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, Andrew Everding of Thursday and Matt Scara of Pitch Black Blonde have formed a Cure tribute act named The Love Cats.

The band will be making their live debut on June 7, 2008 alongside a “heavy metal Bee Gees tribute” named Tragedy and Anna Copa Cabana at Asbury Park in New Jersey.

The Cure and MCR are my two favorite bands. I’m seriously considering moving to New Jersey now. I have to beg anyones who’s going, film it, pretty prettyplease. Just one song?

Here’s a site I think deserves a mention. ThankYouMCR.Net has peoples stories of how MCR have help them, and their pretty inspiring. It’s things like this that make me proud to be a My Chem fan.

A Message From My Chemical Romance

May 26th, 2008

We have recently learned of the suicide and tragic loss of Hannah Bond. We’d like to send our condolences to her family during this time of mourning. Our hearts and thoughts are with them.

My Chemical Romance are and always have been vocally anti-violence and anti-suicide. As a band, we have always made it one of our missions through our actions to provide comfort, support, and solace to our fans. The message and theme of our album “The Black Parade” is hope and courage. Our lyrics are about finding the strength to keep living through pain and hard times. The last song on our album states: “I am not afraid to keep on living” - a sentiment that embodies the band’s position on hardships we all face as human beings. If you or anyone that you know have feelings of depression or suicide, we urge you to find your way and your voice to deal with these feelings positively.
